Ana Kronschnabl and Tomas Rawlings, from PluginCinema, presented their idea of 'Open Source' filmmaking. This includes not only the use of FOSS video tools but also an approach to distributing film works according to Open Source principles. They discussed examples such as the distribution of completed works via the web and filesharing systems, like Gnutella, and documentary projects which have released all their stock footage for other filmmakers to use.

In the afternoon, they gave an hands-on introduction to simple editing tools VirtualDub and Avidemux along with an overview of the more complex studio-production tool Cinelerra. This was followed by a discussion of various video codecs suitable for web distribution.

They finished the day with a run-through of their PluginManifesto, which "aims to create a definitive framework that filmmakers can use to produce films specifically for the Internet, to work with the medium, to see technological limitations as a creative catalyst".
